Co-Founder/ Resident Choreographer
Russell Lepley, co-Founder and resident choreographer of FluxFlow Dance Project, developed the dance space Flux + Flow Dance and Movement Center in Columbus, Ohio in 2017 alongside his husband and collaborator, Filippo Pelacchi. Russell has created and presented 6 works in Columbus since the project’s inception performing at The Columbus Museum of Art, The Wexner Center for the Arts, the Riffe’s Davidson Theater, The Fisher Theater, The Garden Theater and the Franklinton Playhouse and has been awarded the Columbus Dances Fellowship Grant. He first explored his voice as a choreographer while working as a dancer in Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (Montreal, Canada), Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden (Germany), and Gärtnerplatztheater (Munich, Germany) where he participated in young choreographer evenings produced by the companies. His first professional commission, “Lovely and Awful”, came in 2016 for Gärtnerplatztheater and the piece was so well received it was later selected to be a part of “Theater Tagen”, a theater and dance festival in Regensburg, Germany. He is passionate about creating cross-disciplinary work that incorporates live music and elements of theater and his movement vocabulary is informed by the diverse and varied experiences he had as a dancer.
